Sirkku Helin, violin
Sirkku Helin is a violinist who approaches music with an open mind and embraces new challenges. She particularly enjoys chamber music and seamless interaction with other musicians. Before moving to Frankfurt, Sirkku mainly worked as an orchestral musician throughout Finland. Her recent work has included engagements with Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra.
Sirkku has also participated in LEAD! Foundation’s international orchestra projects. In this setting, she has developed her skills both as a violinist and as a leader. Through LEAD!, she has also received career guidance from mentors such as Jukka-Pekka Saraste and Sarah Osa.
Sirkku graduated from the University of the Arts Helsinki’s Sibelius Academy with a master’s degree. She studied under the guidance of lecturer Pekka Kauppinen. In addition to her soloistic studies, she studied Baroque violin as a minor subject and took part in many contemporary music projects. For example, she participated in the Creative Dialogue programme hosted by cellist Anssi Karttunen and composer Magnus Lindberg. Sirkku has also collaborated with Klangforum Wien.
In addition to the mentors mentioned above, violinists and teachers such as Augustin Hadelich, Levon Chilingirian, Mi-kyung Lee, Eszter Haffner and Sirkka-Liisa Kaakinen-Pilch have made a significant impression on Sirkku’s artistic development.
The Finnish Cultural Foundation, Martin Wegelius Memorial Foundation and Sibelius Academy Foundation have supported Sirkku’s career and studies in Helsinki.
