Narek Atoyan, clarinet
Armenian clarinettist Narek Atoyan was born in Yerevan in 1997. He began his musical path studying folk instruments (shvi) before pursuing classical clarinet studies. He earned a bachelor‘s degree of music with honours from the Yerevan State Conservatory. He continued his higher education in Germany, completing his Master of Music in solo performance with distinction at the Cologne University of Music and Dance, followed by a Concert exam at the Mainz School of Music. He also took masterclasses with professors such as Ralph Manno, Norbert Kaiser, Andreas Langenbuch and Anton Hollich.
As a musician with a particular focus on contemporary performance, Narek has appeared in numerous orchestral and ensemble projects. His experience includes performances with Studio Musikfabrik (including the project ›An Index of Metals‹) or the Novoflot ensemble, and as a member of the Junges Ensemble / Philharmonie at Staatstheater Mainz. Furthermore, he has performed with the Cuban-European Youth Orchestra in Baden-Baden, the Pan-Caucasian Youth Orchestra and the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra.
Alongside his concert activities, he is a clarinet and saxophone teacher.
