Cosima Riemer, sounddesign
Cosima Stefanie Riemer is a sound engineer with a particular focus on New Music and sound direction. As a sound director, she has given concerts with artists including Rei Nakamura, Małgorzata Walentynowicz, Patrick Stadler, the Percaso String Quartet and Ensemble Earquake. She has worked closely with composers like Lou Kilger, Dmitri Remezov, Ulyana Saulina and Sarah Nemtsov. Since 2023, she has been part of the team of the Darmstadt Summer Course, where she shares responsibility for the technical realisation and recording of the concerts given there.
Cosima studied sound engineering and music recording at the Erich Theinhaus Institute of Detmold University of Music. In 2026, her final dissertation “Sound direction in contemporary music: An overview and discussion of problems and solutions in sound engineering practice” was nominated for the “Frauen + Medientechnologie” prize, awarded by German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF to women in media technology.
In 2025 she was awarded a grant by the State of North Rhine-Westphalia for a residency at the Cité international des arts in Paris.
Now Cosima Stefanie Riemer is a fellow of the Kunststiftung NRW.
