Mariacostanza D’Agostino, conductor
Mariacostanza D’Agostino began studying music at the age of five, beginning with piano lessons. She graduated with honours in piano and chamber musicfrom the Conservatory G. Paisiello in Taranto, Italy, her hometown. She continued her studies at the Academy lncontri col Maestro in lmola.
Since 2021, shehas been studying orchestral conducting. In 2022, she made her debut at the Ravenna Festival with ›Frammenti infernali‹, a musical theatre show inspired by Dante Alighieri and Pier Paolo Pasolini.In the same year, she was admitted to the masterdegree course in ensemble conducting in Marc Kissoczy's class at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano. In 2024, she completed her master's degree with top marks and honours.
She has participated as a regular studentin numerous international masterclasses, including a class at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and served as assistant conductor during the Berlin OpernFest 2023. In 2023, she made her debut with the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra and in 2024 with the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra.She also studied with Marco Angius and Carlo Boccadoro, among others.
In the field of contemporary music, she has conducted the Divertimento Ensemble and the AltreVoci Ensemble. In 2025, she conducted Igor Stravinsky's ›Histoire du Soldat‹ in the Italian stage version, also directing the Fontane di Roma youth orchestra with Stefano Poeta in the role of the soldier. In September 2023, she received a scholarship to support young women from the Soroptimist Club Lugano.
