Federico Ambruosi, sounddesign
Federico Ambruosi (Bari, 2001) is a sound director, computer musician and composer specializing in contemporary and experimental music. His works have been performed by ensembles and soloists such as MDI Ensemble, Ensemble Suono Giallo and Myriam García Fidalgo, at festivals including MIXTUR (Spain), ilSUONO (Italy), Mantova Musica del XXI secolo (Italy). He was awarded the 2024 PiGro Residency for electroacoustic composers at Centro Tempo Reale in Florence. He holds an MA in Computer Music from the Conservatorio Guiseppe Verdi in Milan, where he studied with Davide Gagliardi and Fabio Venturi, and is currently pursuing studies in Composition with Zeno Baldi and Maurizio Azzan at the Conservatory of Mantua. He has attended masterclasses with Mauro Lanza, Natasha Barrett, Dmitri Kourliandski and ICRAM, among others, and studied as an Erasmus student at the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. In 2024, he completed the advanced program in Live Electronics and Sound Direction at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena with Alvise Vidolin, earning the Diploma di Merito. Active as aperformer and sound director, he has collaborated with Schallfeld Ensemble, Orchestra del Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, Ilya Gringolts, Duo Dubois, Zeno Baldi, Pierre Jodlowski, Óscar Escudero, Giancarlo Schiaffini and others. He is a founding member of the computer music collective Sistema Ensemble, in residence at AGON – Acustica Informatica Musica in Milan (until 2027) and, since 2025, a member of the Chigiana Live Electronics Ensemble, in residence at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena.
