Jinhyoung Kim, Trumpet
The South Korean trumpeter Jinhyoung Kim was born in Seoul in 1996 and grew up in Incheon. He began playing trumpet in the Salvation Army at the age of nine, and in 2014 he graduated from the music department of the Seoul Arts High School. Afterwards, he enrolled at Hanyang University and received several scholarships. In 2020 he received his bachelor’s degree in trumpet as an orchestral instrument with highest honours as well as the teaching certificate for South Korea. After his graduation, he received a two-year »Deutschlandstipendium« scholarship, graduating with a master’s degree in trumpet from the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin in 2022. During his military service in the South Korean Marines, Jinhyoung Kim was unanimously voted the winner of the 56th Dong-A Music Competition. He also received the first prize at the 35th Busan Music Competition and an award at the International Kirishima Music Festival. He performs regularly as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician in various cities in Asia and Europe, including Seoul, Busan, Kirishima, Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, Potsdam and Innsbruck. Jinhyoung Kim studied with William Forman, Alexandre Baty, Byung-yeop Yoo and Kibum Park. He is currently also enrolled in the master’s degree course in historical instruments with Hans-Martin Rux-Brachtendorf at the Würzburg Academy of Music.
