Riverton Alves, Double Bass
Born in São Paulo (*1994), Riverton Alves began studying bass at the age of 16 at the Guarulhos Municipal Conservatory, and at the age of 19 he joined the School of Music of the State of São Paulo (EMESP), studying with Pedro Gadelha. He was a member of the São Paulo State Youth Orchestra from 2014 to 2017, participating in three CD recordings with soloists Antônio Menezes and Cristian Budu as well as tours in 2014 to Amsterdam (Grachtenfestival) and La Côte-Saint-André (Berlioz Festival), and in 2015 to Washington DC (John F. Kennedy Center) and New York (Alice Tully Hall). In 2018 he won 3rd prize in the orchestral competition at the Bass Europe 2018 congress in Lucca (Italy), and was finalist of the OSESP Young Soloists Competition in 2019. Riverton Alves participated in the orchestra academy of the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP) under the guidance of Pedro Gadelha from 2018 to 2019, graduating in double bass from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), a member of the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra in Germany in 2019, and has worked as principal double bass of the Chamber Orchestra of the University of São Paulo (USP). In 2022 he won the Solo Prize in the Eleazar de Carvalho Competition at the Festival Campos, and worked as a substitute at the São Paulo Municipal Symphony Orchestra (OSM) and the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP).
