Clara Franz, Cello
Clara Franz, born in Rostock in 1994, is a versatile musician currently living in Frankfurt am Main. Clara Franz studied cello at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy Berlin with Josef Schwab and Hans-Jakob Eschenburg. She continued her studies at the Frankfurt am Main Academy of Music and Performing Arts with Jan Ickert. Other formative teachers in her artistic training were Leonid Gorokhov and Lucas Fels. An experienced chamber musician, she performs different genres of music with various ensembles. At the moment, she performs regularly with guitarist Guy Woodcock in their Duo Shiluv. With her former string quartet, the Aavik Quartet, she won the Encouragement Award at the Polytechnic Competition at the HfMDK Frankfurt in 2019. Clara Franz is increasingly specializing in contemporary music. She participated in the ›contemporary celloweek‹ at the EstOvest Festival in Turin, Italy, in 2021, and was a finalist in the Domnick Cello Competition in Stuttgart, Germany, in 2022. From October 2022 onwards, she joins the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt am Main. As an orchestral musician, she is currently a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and also performs occasionally with various chamber orchestras. She is also an enthusiastic instrumental pedagogue, teaching private lessons and string classes in the Frankfurt area. Clara Franz plays a cello made by Karl Weiß in Dortmund in 1956.
