Antonio La Spina, Composition
Antonio La Spina (b. 1991) studied at the Conservatoire Luigi Canepa in Sassari, where he obtained both a bachelor and master’s degree in piano cum laude under Andrea Ivaldi’s guidance, also attending the masterclasses of Olaf Laneri (2009), Maurizio Baglini (2010), Enrico Pace (2011), Fabio Bidini (2012) and Mariangela Vacatello (2013). He studied composition with Marco Momi, attending masterclasses with Yann Robin (2013) and Juste Janulyte (2014), and as an auditor those of Pierluigi Billone (2014) and Dmitri Kourliandski (2016), in addition to workshops with Beat Furrer, Philippe Leroux and Rebecca Saunders at Manifeste in 2016.
In 2018 he was selected for IDEA (International Divertimento Ensemble Academy), where he attended lessons with Daniele Ghisi, Fabien Lévy, Giorgio Netti, Hanspeter Kyburz, Francesco Filidei, Stefano Gervasoni, Mauro Lanza. In 2019 he participated in the International Composition Course Barcelona Modern with Alberto Posadas as guest composer. In 2019 and 2020 he studied at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena with Salvatore Sciarrino, where in 2020 he was awarded both the scholarship and the merit diploma. In 2020 he also graduated from the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag, where Calliope Tsoupaki and Yannis Kyriakides were his teachers.
His music has been performed by the Divertimento Ensemble, Quartetto Prometeo, New European Ensemble and Barcelona Modern Ensemble, among others, in venues such as the Teatro Litta, Palazzina Liberty and Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, the Palazzo Chigi-Saracini in Siena, Korzo in Den Haag and the Orgelpark in Amsterdam.
In 2014 he co-created the musical association Labiritmo, through which he organized summer courses with Mauro Lanza (2015), Yannis Kyriakides (2017) and Pierluigi Billone (2019).
Together with Maurizio Tedde he is part of the ensemble The Roquentins, which is about to release its first studio album.
