Nefeli Galani, Viola
Nefeli Galani was born in Rethymno, Greece. She took her first violin lessons at the age of six with Goni Dalipi and later with Ioannis Lampos and Miltiades Papastamou. In 2008 she was accepted in the Viola Performance Department of the Ionian University, in the class of Andreas Georgotas. At the same time she took viola lessons with Nikolaos Mandilas at the Ionian Conservatory, Corfu. In October 2013, she studied during her Erasmus program in the Musikhochschule Trossingen with the viola professor James Creitz. In 2014, she graduated from the Ionian University and the Ionian Conservatory. She has participated in seminars in Greece and Germany with Chara Seira, Paul Silverthorne, Gareth Lubbe, Boris Faust, Matthias Buchholz, Andreas Willwohl, Anna-Kreetta Gribajcevic. She has also taken part in masterclasses such as ›La Follia, a post-modern journey in improvised Early Music‹ 2012 (Italy) and the IEMA Klangspuren 2018 (Austria). She has given many concerts playing in chamber music ensembles and concerts held by the Ionian University’s Department of Composition. Her experience in orchestras started already in 2004 with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Rethymno. Later she was a member of the Symphony Orchestra of the Philharmonic Society of Corfu until 2013. In 2015, she was a member of the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra of Athens and a member of the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra. From 2017 until 2019 she studied for her Master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Anna-Kreetta Gribajcevic. In Hamburg she often performed with ensembles like the Hamburger Camerata, the Ensemble Olano and the Ensemble Volans in Halls like the Laeiszhalle or Thalia Theater. She has also played in concerts as a guest of the ›Future of Orchestral Culture Fellowship‹’ in San Francisco and Shanghai.
