Vera Seedorf, Percussion
Born in Dorsten in 1994, Vera Seedorf received her first percussion lessons at the age of four in her hometown. In 2005 she moved on to the Folkwang Music School in Essen, where she had lessons with Christian Roderburg. In 2009 she joined his percussion class at the Cologne Academy of Music and Dance as a junior student. Since April 2013 she has been a student at the Lübeck Music Academy with Johannes Fischer, where she already has passed her Bachelor exam and first year of her Master studies. After winning the German competition Jugend musiziert in 2010, Vera Seedorf won a scholarship of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation from September 2010 to August 2013. During that time she gave various concerts in Frankfurt, Edenkoben, Düren and Bonn.
From 2010 to 2014 she was a permanent member of Studio musikFabrik, the youth ensemble for contemporary music in North-Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. She participated in several concerts at renowned festivals, e.g. the world premiere of Hans-Werner Henze’s opera ›Gisela!‹ at the Ruhrtriennale in 2010, also ›Now!‹ at the Philharmonie in Essen in 2013 and at the Donaueschingen Music Days in October 2014.
In 2014 she founded the percussion-duo ›Störsignal‹ together with David Cariano Timme. They were participants of the final round of the Possehl Music Competition in 2014 and scholarship holders of the student support programme ›MusikErkennen‹. From 2016-2018 Vera Seedorf was a teacher of a small percussion group, the Early Music Birds at the Heinrich Mann School in Lübeck. The goal of the project was to introduce children of underserved schools to the instruments and styles of ancient music and encourage them to improve their musical skills. After successfully participating in the competition Deutscher Musikwettbewerb in 2017, Vera Seedorf was invited to present two concerts at Radialsystem V in Berlin and Hannover. In the summer of 2017, Vera Seedorf was a member of the Festival Academy at the Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker, the oldest festival for chamber music in Germany. Vera Seedorf has participated in numerous classes with renowned percussionists, most recently at the Academy for Contemporary Music in Lucerne in February 2016.
