William Overcash, Violin
William Overcash is a violinist with a keen eye towards the development of music. He is a recent graduate from the Masters program at the Shepherd School of Music in Houston, Texas, where he studied with Kathleen Winkler, and holds a Bachelors degree from Oberlin Conservatory under the tutelage of David Bowlin. As a performing artist, William Overcash has presented music both new and old at significant venues, such as Carnegie Hall and the DiMenna Center of New York, Suntory Hall of Tokyo, Jesse H. Jones Hall of Houston, Philharmonie Essen, Laeiszhalle of Hamburg, and KKL of Lucerne. In the traditional sphere, Overcash has participated in master classes with Almita Vamos, Jennifer Koh, Paul Kantor, Jorja Fleezanis, and members of the Emerson, Pacifica, and Dover Quartets. Other highlights include winning the Grand Prize at the Tuesday Musical Association Competition of Akron, Ohio and giving the American premiere of Helmut Lachenmann’s dystopic opera ›Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern‹ as part of the solo octet.
