Per Håkon Oftedals, Trumpet
Per Håkon Oftedal is a Norwegian trumpet player who has specialised in Early and New Music during the course of his studies. He was educated in Oslo, Cologne and Salzburg. During his studies in Salzburg, he also learned to play the historical baroque trumpet, which he performs regularly with several renowned Early Music ensembles, such as Musica Florea (Prague), BachWerkVokal (Salzburg), Bergen Barokk (Norway) and Ensemble Cordia (Bruneck). He is equally interested in performing New Music on the modern trumpet, which differs significantly from the historical natural trumpet. Per Håkon Oftedal is fascinated by the versatile expressivity of this instrument and the manner in which contemporary composers take advantage of it. Therefore, he participated in contemporary music projects as often as he could during his studies, also working on modern solo pieces. Since 2017 he has been active at the innovative Podiumfestival in Esslingen. He is regularly engaged as a substitute by major orchestras, especially for contemporary music projects.
