Niamh Dell, Oboe
Niamh Dell undertook her bachelor studies in oboe performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the University of Western Australia, studying primarily with Elizabeth Chee and Alexandre Oguey. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she participated in a number of established nation-wide training programmes for orchestral and chamber music, including the Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camp, the Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute, and the Australian Festival of Chamber Music Winter School. She has performed several times in the oboe section of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and worked in a freelance capacity for several professional ensembles in Perth and Sydney.
In 2016 Niamh Dell was awarded the Royal Over-Seas League Honours Prize in Music Performance, awarded to the honours student with the highest mark for their final recital. In the same year she was the recipient of the Lady Callaway Medal for the most outstanding graduate of the University of Western Australia School of Music, and the Sir Harold Bailey Memorial Prize for most outstanding graduate overall from the university’s Faculty of Arts.
