The singer and vocal performer Cathy Berberian made a major contribution to revolutionising the role of the human voice in music from the second half of the 20th century to our times. Like hardly another performer of her time, she was renowned for her reckless willingness to experiment with and explore her voice. The concert-symposium ‘For Cathy Berberian’ presented by the Musicological Institute of the Goethe University Frankfurt on July 4 combines lectures with concerts at the Haus am Dom. The IEMA Ensemble 2014/15 performs works by Sylvano Bussotti, Luciano Berio, Andreas Sorg (world premiere) and Tona Scherchen. The sopranos are Carola Schlüter and Maren A. Schwier; Nicolai Bernstein conducts. Further information is available here.
