Violist Benoît Morel is a versatile musician with a strong interest in contemporary music. After early training in France, Benoît continued his advanced musical studies in conservatories in Switzerland, Germany and England. His former teachers include M. Michalakakos, I. Lequien, J.P. Vasseur, T. Adamoupoulos, T. Masurenko and G. Knox.
He has been a permanent member of the Orchestre de Pau Pays de Béarn since 2012 and works regularly with many professional orchestras, including the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestre des Champs-Élysées, Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine, Orchestre de Picardie.
Benoît also enjoys performing in smaller ensembles, and has taken part in several chamber music festivals, in particular the Lucerne Festival Academy in 2014 (where he worked with Simon Rattle, Matthias Pintscher and Helmut Lachenmann) and the Voix Nouvelles Academy in Royaumont in 2016 (working with the Talea Ensemble). He was invited to perform as a member of Lucerne Festival Academy Alumni Ensemble in 2015. Meanwhile, his developing interest in period instruments has recently led him to begin specializing in historically-informed performance.
He was brought to play in some of the most prestigious concert halls of Paris, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Lucerne, Geneva, and Cologne.
