Pierre Dekker, born in 1994 in Eindhoven (Netherlands) started the double bass at the age of 7 with Ruud van der Meulen, and later with Peter Leerdam in the preparatory class of the conservatory of Rotterdam. Quite soon Pierre Dekker got interested in more musical disciplines such as jazz and composition, which led him to start his studies in the classical as well as the jazz department of the conservatory of Rotterdam. After one year, he was accepted in the CNSMD of Lyon where he pursued his classical studies with Cedric Carlier and François Montmayeur. In Lyon Pierre Dekker had the chance to work on broad contemporary solo and chamber music repertoire with performers and composers such as Fabrice Pierre, Nicolas Crosse and Kalevi Aho. This led him to specialise in classical contemporary music. After receiving a bachelor degree in Lyon, Pierre Dekker joined the International Ensemble Modern Academy of Frankfurt, where he will be studying until August 2016.
Pierre Dekker has taken classes with Nabil Shehata, Jeff Bradetich and Mathew McDonald. He gained orchestra experience playing with the Opera de Lyon and taking part in the Lucerne Festival Academy of 2015.
