Kyung Won Lee was born in Seoul in 1983. At the age of eight he started with Violin lessons. He attended the Sunhwa Art School and the Sunhwa Art High School and studied at the Kookmin University in Seoul. 2009 he graduated in his main subject Violin (Bachelor of Music) and started to study Violin with Martin Dehning and Viola with Hartmut Lindemann at the Musikhochschule Münster. Since 2012 he is a student of Prof. Werner Dickel at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.
Kyung Won Lee was awarded with many prizes from various important competitions in South Korea and Germany, for example the award of the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität zu Münster and of the chamber music competition of the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. He won the WDR Open Audition and was selected for a recording.
He was also invited to various music festivals such as the International Music Festival in Perugia (Italy), the Beethoven Fest in Bonn or the Henze Fest in Münster and plays as a soloist with different orchestras in Germany and South Korea.
Since 2010 he is a scholar of the Yehudi Menuhin foundation and performs as a violist or viola player with several chamber ensembles.
