Brigitta Muntendorf, Composer

Born in Hamburg, 1982, Brigitta was a student in the class of Younghi Paagh-Paan and Günther Steinke at the Academy of Music in Bremen. She also studied with Krystof Meyer, Rebecca Saunders and Johannes Schöllhorn at the Academy of Music and Theatre Köln.
In summer 2010 she was graduated. Afterward she lives at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris as a scholar.
Her work includes an extensive list of compositions. 2011 she had a premiere and performance of her opera ›Wer zum Teufel ist Gerty‹ in cooperation with Thierry Buehl at the Opera-Festival in Salzburg. She obtaines commissions of »Ohren auf Europa Festval«, »Acht Brücken Festival Köln« and ensemble: europa (WDR). She composed for famous ensembles, like »CALEFAX«, »oh-ton« or »Askol/Schönberg Ensemble«.
She won a lot of prizes (e.g. Hochschulpreis Köln, Bernd Alois Zimmermann scholarship or portraits at DLF, HR and WDR).
2009 she founded Ensemble Garage, which gave guest performances at »Acht Brücken Festival Köln«, »Tonlagenfestival Hellerau«, »KOLUMBA Köln« and »Bundeskunsthalle Bonn«. Ensemble Garage cooperate with composers like Manos Tsangaris, Johannes Schöllhorn or pierre Boulez.
In April of 2012 Brigitta became a scholarship at the International Ensemble Modern Academy.
She lives and works as freelance composer and conductress of Ensemble Garage in Köln.
