Esther Saladin, Cello

Esther Saladin was born in Zürich in 1986. Her first cello teachers were Reto Cuonz and Rebecca Firth at the conservatory in Zürich. From 2006 to 2012 Esther Saladin studied with Prof. Conradin Brotbek (Bern/Stuttgart), most recently (2010 – 2012) her Masters Cello - Contemporary Music at Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart.
Prizes and awards at competitions, such as a first prize at the chamber music competition Jecklin Musiktreffen 2003 in Zürich.
She has performed as a soloist the C. Saint-Saëns and the J. Haydn cello concertos in Switzerland and Germany, amongst others.
She is engaged regularly as a chamber musician in trios, string quartet and larger ensembles, in solo and duo recitals of contemporary, classical and romantic music, concerts at the Next_Generation festival at Zentrum für Medientechnologie Karlsruhe (ZKM), at Gare du Nord Basel, at Tonhalle Zürich and as a member of the Accademia Neue Musik Bolzano concerts in Italy and the Netherlands.
Esther Saladin has been a member of the Semadar Quartet, a string quartet which mainly played contemporary music and premières of new works.
Esther Saladin has attended Masterclasses with Conradin Brotbek, Wen-Sinn Yang, Claude Starck, Martina Schucan, David Watkin, Claudio Ronco and Emilio Colón.
