Simon Klavzar, Percussion

After great successes at famous competitions in Luxembourg (IPCL) and Bulgaria (PENDIM) Simon played a lot of concerts in USA and Europe, for example he performed in halls like Hermitage Theatre in St. Petersburg, Carnegie Hall or Berliner Philharmonie.
He graduated at the Ljubljana Music Academy. Even as a pupil Simon fills his audience with enthusiasm. He was a member of the academy orchestra and is one of the Slovenian-Percussion-Duo. Since 2006 this Duo play concerts in USA, Russia, Italy, Germany, Spain, Luxembourg, Austria, Slovenian, Switzerland and Serbia.
The Slovenian-Percussion-Duo won the Preseren prize at the famous percussion competition in Luxembourg (IPCL). In the same year Simon won also the first prize at the percussion-competition in Bulgaria and the third prize at the Salieri-Zinetti chamber music competition in Verona, the first prize at Kulturkreis Gasteig competition in Munich. In addition he got the audience prize in Almeria (Netherlands) in 2011, and in 2002, 2005 and 2008 Simon won first and second prizes at the national slovenian competition TEMSIG.
Since 2007 the Slovenian-Percussion-Duo organizes the festival XYLODRUM in Ljubljana. Both musicians are also music-educationalists – they give seminars, workshops and private lessons. An important part of their work is playing premieres of new compositions. The Duo play in famous concert halls and at festivals, for example at the Metelkova Street Festival in Ljubljana. In addition they work together with the famous band »Melodrom« – an inventive mixture of Rockband and Percussion-Duo.
