Daniela Shemer, Cello

Daniela Shemer, born on 27 May 1988 in Jerusalem, began playing the cello at the age of seven. In 2010 she completed a Bachelor degree at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, where she studied with Mr. Zvi Plesser and Professor Shmuel Magen. Along with her studies at the Jerusalem Academy, she completed her army service in the position of Excellent Musician.
In 2011 Daniela was studying in the class of Mr. Michel Strauss, while completing a one-year study course in Sonology, both in the Royal Conservatoire The Hague.
Since 1999, Daniela has been continually granted scholarships by the American-Israel Culture Foundation. She was also granted scholarships by the Varon Fund, the Jewish National Fund of KKI, and by the Barenboim-Said Andalusian Public Foundation.
Daniela is a graduate of the Young Musicians Unit of the Jerusalem Music Center, and has performed regularly with the Young Philharmonic Orchestra, also as principal cellist.
Since 2009 she participates on regular basis in the workshops and concert tours of the West Eastern Divan Orchestra.
During the years, Daniela has developed a great interest in contemporary music, and has premiered many new compositions of Israeli composers.
