French pianist Sophie Patey performs actively in North America and Europe as a soloist and chamber musician at diverse venues such as The Emerson Quartet Festival, Klangspuren Festival, Jeunes Talents (Paris), The Banff Centre, Pablo Casals Festival, Transart Festival, Kneisel Hall Festival.
She has worked in collaboration with renowned musicians such as: Colin Carr, members of the Metropolitan Opera, members of the Penderecki and Saint Lawrence Quartets, Barry Shiffman, Suzie LeBlanc, Eduardo Leandro and was part of the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players for many years.
She has received coaching from the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Modern, the Emerson and Juilliard String Quartet, Claude Frank, Pascal Devoyon, Jean-Claude Pennetier.
Her broad interest brings her to perform repertoire from Scarlatti to world premiere and to collaborate with composers. After studying piano and accompaniment at the Conservatoire in Lille (France), she pursued her studies at the Musikhochschule in Cologne (Germany), and she graduated from Gil Kalish studio with a Doctorate in Musical Arts at the Stony Brook University (New York).
She is also an active piano and chamber music teacher, has taught at the Stony Brook University and gave master classes in other American Universities.
