Australian violist William Lane has a growing reputation as a solo artist, chamber musician and ensemble player. A prize winner at a number of international competitions, such as the ANZVS International (Melbourne) and the Premio Internazionale Valentino Bucchi (Rome), he has performed all over Australiasia, Europe and North America. He studied under Jan Sedivka (Australia), Bruno Giuranna (Italy) and Garth Knox (Paris). He was the inaugural recipient of the Alcorso Scholarship and has twice received the Llewellyn String Award. He is the 2006 Tasmanian of the Year for the Arts.
Lane has collaborated with a number of musicians and ensembles, including Ensemble Modern, Bang-on-a-Can-All-Stars (New York City), the Esperance Trio (Australia), AMP Ensemble (New York City). He was featured at the 2005 'Festivale Musicale di Pontino' (Sermoneta, Italy), and has up-coming solo and chamber engagements in Germany, Australia, Ireland, Mexico and the USA.
