Marko Nikodijević (also Marko Mago-Nikodijević * 4 January 1980 in Subotica, now Serbia, former Yugoslavia) is a serbian/german composer and electronica-artist. Nikodijević studied composition with Srdjan Hofman and Zoran Erić (Belgrade) and furthered his composition studies with Marco Stroppa and music theory with Bernd Asmus in Stuttgart, Germany where he has been living since 2003.
Besides scholarships and fellowships his honors include the Prize of the 9th International composers meeting Apeldoorn 2003, Honorable mention at Gaudeamus Music Week 2003 and 2007, the Franz Liszt-Stipendium 2005, Prize of the Forum du Nouvel Ensemble Moderne 2006, Composer Prize of the 3rd Brandenburger Biennale 2008, Recommended work at the UNESCO Rostrum of Composers in general category and composers under 30 2009.
His music has been played by, among others: ensemble recherche, Ensemble Modern, Ives Ensemble, Nieuw Ensemble, Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, Ensemble Insomnio, kammarensemblen Stockholm, de ereprijs, Österreichisches Ensemble für Neue Musik, Brandenburger Symphoniker, Radio Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart,and Holland Symfonia at such venues as Gaudeamus Music Week (2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010), musikprotokoll im steierischen herbst (2005), Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (2005),World New Music Festival (2006), Heidelberger Frühling (2007) and Warsaw Autumn (2010).
Deeply influenced by techno his works are centred around the use of digital technology in composition: algorithmic composition on the basis of fractals, spectral music, instrumental and digital sound synthesis and digital signal processing.
