Paxos

The Paxos Spring Festival was established in 1986 with the declared aim of enabling participants and visitors to experience a wide abundance of chamber music works – either actively as musicians or as concert-goers. Since 2004, the Paxos Spring Festival in cooperation with the IEMA has offered high-quality courses designed to train outstanding Greek students and aspiring young musicians in the performance practice of music from the 20th and 21st centuries. At the same time, the festival organisers also wish to see these works performed more frequently in Greece. The whole-day study sessions as well as the public and non-public rehearsals take place in Paxos. Works that have been produced during the festival are performed again in the following winter as part of a series of concerts at the Megaron Concert Hall in Athens.

In 2008, participants from the Paxos master class formed the »Ergon Ensemble« which develops pieces of New Music with the support of the Ensemble Modern, with a special focus on contemporary Greek music.
